โWhen I compare
What I have lost with what I have gained,
What I have missed with what attained,
Little room do I find for pride.โ
Itโs week four of lockdown and I have failed.
With a list of thins to do everyday, I am lucky if I get a single one done.
I think back to all the times Iโve told people that if I had more free time then I would get so much done.
I think back to all the times Iโve told people that if I had more free time then I would work out and get fit.
I think back to all the times Iโve told people that if I had more free time then I would finish all the things I had meant to finish before but just couldnโt find the time.
Now I have all the time, and nothing is being done.
Iโm trying, god knows I am trying, but the pull is stronger than I.
โI am aware
How many days have been idly spent;
How like an arrow the good intent
Has fallen short or been turned aside.โ
It could be the end times out there, and I am doing nothing.
But then again, so are many others out there.
Most people are in the same boat right now, and even if you do nothing, youโre doing okay.
Many people are hurting, are working, are sick, are suffering, are busy, are tired, and if youโre worrying about not doing as much as you wanted, thatโs valid, but youโre still doing good by staying inside and protecting lives.
Itโs okay if you spend your time not doing what others consider unproductive.
Itโs okay if you spend the lockdown doing nothing, as long as itโs your nothing.
Itโs okay if youโre not the person you thought you would be.
Even if you get up in the morning, if you brush your hair or have a shower, read a book or write a post, video chat with friends or send them a โHey, how are you?โ message, even if you get through a bunch of episodes of a pretty good show, even if you saw a bunch of dank ass memes, then youโve done something, and thatโs something.
And let us not forget, Iโve just started a blog.
โBut who shall dare
To measure loss and gain in this wise?
Defeat may be victory in disguise;
The lowest ebb is the turn of the tide.โ
- โLoss and Gainโ by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882)
